Reasons for atttending a Boarding School:

They have great teachers.

The teachers have advanced degrees in education and teach the subjects in their specialty field.  They are passionate and love to teach. The reason you go to private school is to learn.

You’ll have different sports and sports facilities.

They have squash to crew, hockey to basketball.  Most schools have sensational sports facilities.  The varsity teams travel regionally to compete.

You’ll have access to art programs and arts facilities.

Theater, dance, music, fine arts, are of the few artistic opportunities most boarding schools offer.  Many of those schools have fantastic art centers.  Chamber music, bands orchestras and jazz, it will give you many opportunities to use your musical talents.

You will live away from home.

It’s never easy to leave home.  You will make new friends and learn how to cope with life.  You will be under the watchful eye of your teachers who are mentors, not baby-sitters.

You will face a challenging work load.

In a public school you might not have lot of work to deal with.  In a private school you will have 3 – 4 hours of study and homework per day. Boarding schools are concerned about getting you into a college.  The result of the academic courses is remarkable.

You will be surrounded by classmates who like yourself wish to attend College.

Most schools are selective about who they admit.  Being willing to work hard in class and play hard on the playing field is all part of the prep school mentality.

The libraries / Sciences centers are well-stocked.

Several boarding school libraries and science centers offer the latest in technology.

You will learn to be responsible.

Taking little steps to maturity is part of the intangibles of going to boarding school. You learn to get along with others, learn to be responsible and adhere to the prep school honor code.  The life lessons  learned in boarding school will be a foundation for adulthood.

The classes are small

Public schools have 30-35 students and sometimes more per class, you are just a number.  In boarding schools, classes are small (10-15 students).  Classrooms are designed to help the student participate. Teachers will entice you to ask questions.  You’ll be a person not a number!

Here are some of the reasons for selecting a boarding school.  The following steps will help you decide on a boarding school.

10th Grade Entry and Academies
The most common entry point for the school is the 10th grade.  Because college preparatory studies cover a three year cycle. Most schools follow the Advanced Placement or AP program.  This begins in 10th grade.  The AP courses offer a wide range
of topics from school to school, so be sure to factor academics in your search for the right boarding school.  Private schools frequently offer highly specialized AP courses such as Mandarin and Japanese.

Another thing to consider is sports.  If you want to play at the varsity level, you need to enter at the latest, in the 10th grade, if possible even earlier.  Experience, training, conditioning and ability combine to create a successful varsity team member.
Most prep schools offer many varsity level sports including Crew, Golf, Tennis and Water Polo.  Boarding schools have magnificent athletic facilities including swimming pools, gymnasiums, hockey rinks, golf courses, tennis courts, squash courts and more.

recommended students for music, arts and theater programs. All have graduated are now attending major colleges and universities in USA and Canada.  There are numerous Prep Schools. Helping candidates choose the right school and making sure they
will be a proper fit as well as an asset to the school, demands proper guidance. I try to simplify the process for both parents and the student.
